Remodeling is an option many are using to upgrade their homes to enhance the value or simply improve the quality of their own living environment without the high cost of purchasing a new house.
Remodeling is viewed as a good way to update a home aesthetically as well as structurally. A lot of the single-family homes in fountain Hills were built in the 1970s, and people are now looking to update and upgrade with various remodeling projects.
Projects can range from the simple to major renovations with the homeowner doing the handiwork or hiring a contractor to do the job. There is a new trend that guts a home to the outside walls and rebuilds everything inside.
Kitchens and bathroom renovations and room additions are still among the most common remodeling projects done by homeowners.
Patrick Benkowski, CR, of Roadrunner Custom Remodeling in Fountain Hills said people are looking at new projects again after a couple of years of a downturn.
“Things are starting to come alive again.??? Benkowski said. “When the economy is good people invest in their home when they have the money to do it.???
In Fountain Hills many people purchased a home 20 or 30 years ago with a beautiful view, and they are hesitant to give that value up for a new home elsewhere, Benkowski says. Instead they look at upgrading the home with a remodeling project.
For the outdoors, a new patio, swimming pool or landscaping can fall into the category of a major remodel.
According to statistics from the town building safety department, remodeling permits remain consistent from year-to-year.
Swimming pools are by far the most popular addition to a home in fountain Hills based on new permit applications.
