We were given the opportunity to remodel the entire second floor of a beautiful Fountain Hills home which also happened to be their master bedroom suite. We installed a new tile shower, tile tub area, stone vanity tops, new flooring, new base molding, painting, and lighting. Remodeling a large bathroom on the 2nd floor of a home can present a challenge because hauling equipment and materials up and down stairs daily. Keeping our supplies organized and protecting the walkways of the home are necessary in order for a successful home remodel. This large project turned out amazing and we are proud to show off this unique master suite.
In the bathroom we updated the shower area, vanity area, and tub area using a combination of different tile. The homeowners chose a mixed brick travertine stone mosaic tile for the walls and around the base of the tub and shower wall for a dramatic effect and rough texture. This textured tile set along the smooth, dark plank tile flooring and the dark deco band tiles made for a perfect contrast.
The tile plank flooring and new base molding carried through from the bathroom to the bedroom continued the upscale look throughout the entire master bedroom suite. This tile plank flooring is a perfect option for those interested in the look of wood flooring, but would like something more durable and easier to maintain.
The new oil rubbed bronzed plumbing fixtures chosen bring out the dark tones in the granite countertops and the dark plank flooring. This color of bathroom fixtures is very popular right now and matches many different home decor styles.
To tie the shower and bathtub area together, the homeowners chose a beautiful dark brown small mosaic tile deco band that runs along the wall from the bathtub and flows into the shower. The smooth dark texture of the deco band tile contrasts nicely with the rough and lighter travertine mosaic tiles. They cut costs by keeping the original soaking tub that is still in excellent condition.
The giallo portofino granite countertops really shine on top of the refinished cabinets and match the hardwood doors in the bathroom perfectly. Refinishing the cabinetry not only keeps costs down, but it simplifies the entire remodeling process, and allows for the project to move along faster. Ordering and installing new custom cabinets can be quite a time commitment and often extends the project several weeks. These cabinets were in decent shape and are a high quality wood, so they were perfect for refinishing.
We finished off this master bedroom suite by painting over the yellow toned walls with a beautiful muted blue-green shade that brightens up the entire space and contrasts perfectly with the browns chosen for the countertops, tile, and flooring. New base molding was installed to give the entire space a more modern professional and high quality finished touch.
Overall this project turned out beautifully and is a perfect example how a homeowner can take an average looking master bedroom suite from boring to exceptional.
