Overall this master bathroom looked just fine (although the Owners hated the tile colors). And, unfortunately hidden below the tile surface was a shabby and cheap remodeling job done by either an unqualified remodeler or a previous owner.
The homeowners called us to remodel their master bathroom because not only was the layout and design not preferred, but they were experiencing leaking in their shower. The leaking had gotten so bad that the drywall was damaged and mold was growing.
They made a decision to take their bathroom to a complete 360 degree design change. They went from a dark, dreary, and uninviting space to a light, airy, and modern spa-like environment now inviting those to relax. The dark color scheme on the walls, tile, and flooring is now light greys and white with simple subway tiles on the walls and light grey 12″x24″ plank tile flooring.
The Calacatta Clasique quartz countertops we installed are unique with a beautiful grey veining throughout to pull together the white and grey color scheme throughout the room. These countertops really stand out with their simplicity and unique beauty. They are also a great choice for maintenance and longevity.
We ripped out the classic cheap builder cabinets and replaced them with a Tuscan style dark stained solid alder wood cabinetry custom made for this master bathroom. This upgrade really stands out in the room and makes it feel luxurious without being a huge investment.
These homeowners rarely use their tub, so downsizing to a more manageable sized soaking tub that fits the space appropriately made the most sense and clearly simplifies the space. Now the homeowner can have more space to move about the room and can easily reach the built in wall niches above the tub area.
Another simple upgrade that adds big style was the addition of metal schluter mouldings along the edges of tiled areas. White tile and grout is clean and simple, but can also be a bit vanilla. Adding these metal mouldings to the white tile really stepped up the simplicity with contemporary upgraded style.
Overall this master bathroom remodel is a excellent upgrade for this home and beautiful design change. Fixing the poor past bathroom remodel made the most sense for long term use and increased the resale value for these homeowners in the future. We are proud to add this project to our bathroom remodeling portfolio and look forward to helping more homeowners fix up their master bathrooms in the future.
