We recently had the pleasure of remodeling 2 bathrooms in an older (1980) Ahwatukee home. We normally don’t work in Ahwatukee because of the long drive (and increased overhead), but these homeowners were past clients (at a different home) and would not take “no” for an answer. Even though we had a back log of several months, they insisted on waiting for Roadrunner to complete their bathrooms because of the quality product and service they received when their previous home was remodeled a couple years ago. Of course we were thrilled by the accolades and were pleased to work with these folks again.
Of course we remodeled one bathroom at a time so these homeowners still had access to a bathroom during the entire process. Making these arrangements extends the overall time frame of the remodel, however it is definitely necessary if people are living in the home, and makes the remodeling process less stressful for the homeowners.
For these bathrooms we converted an old tub/shower and tile shower into upgraded beautiful walk-in tile showers. This is a great option for homeowners who no longer have small children and only use their bathtubs for showering. A standing shower is safer to enter and exit, easy to clean, and provides more space for an adult to take a shower.
We used a neutral brown toned non-slip 8″x32″ plank ceramic tile for the bathroom flooring, the walls of the shower, and along the new custom built-in shower bench. For the floor of the shower we installed a coordinating flat pebble tile to create a beautiful contrast and a safe non-slip surface. The shower doors chosen have a textured bubble glass that’s easy to clean, hides water spots, and provides privacy. Grab bars were installed to help with stability while entering, exiting, and standing in the shower.
Throughout these bathrooms, the homeowners chose brushed nickel fixtures that are currently on trend and will be in style for many years to come. The brushed nickel fixtures gave a clean, contemporary look and tied each bathroom together. They chose a snap-out detachable shower head as an upgraded option.
The homeowner is a woodworker, so he wanted to create his own custom vanity cabinetry. We worked with him on the dimensions and made sure the granite countertops would fit perfectly. They cut costs by choosing granite countertops from the remnant yard of our preferred Phoenix countertop fabricator. Even though these countertops were remnants, they are beautiful pieces of granite that really stand out as a luxury touch in these small bathrooms.
Lastly, these homeowners wanted us to provide a top for a custom wine cabinet and entertaining space in the living room of their home. This upgrade not only looks beautiful, but created the additional the storage they desired for their large wine collection.
Not long after we finished up this project, the homeowners started talking to us about remodeling their kitchen. We are thrilled that they are so pleased with our work that yet again they would like to hire us to upgrade their home. We look forward to working with these folks AGAIN soon.
