Our team really enjoyed creating this beautiful master bathroom. It was an incredible transformation from a boring builder-grade bathroom, to a luxury master bathroom most homeowners would dream of. From the custom tile work, the cantilevered niche in the shower (which was a glass block window), and the beautiful granite countertops, the finished bathroom is full of upscale details.
Like many homeowners, this couple was sick and tired of using their bathtub as a shower, and this one was worse because it had a wraparound shower curtain – that space was not practical for a shower. They desired a walk-in shower that was easy to use and reflected their style. They wanted to wake up in the morning and use a luxurious bathroom with all of the amenities. We spent a lot of time choosing tile combinations, fixtures, granite, and cabinets that all coordinated well together.
One of their main issues in the bathroom was a large cantilevered glass block window inside the tub area. Since there was already a source of natural light in the bathroom, they didn’t feel the window was necessary, and would rather have a decorative tile wall. Removing the window would of added additional cost to the project, so with the help of a waterproofing subcontractor, we installed a waterproof barrier on the interior and exterior and and covered right over it with tile backer board on the interior and stucco on the exterior. We then installed a custom tile medallion on this shower wall to create a unique piece of art in the bathroom.
This couple chose simple white traditional vanity cabinetry to provide a clean look. The granite slab chosen for the countertops brought the entire bathroom color palette together nicely. A travertine listello deco band and chair rail trim wrapped around the entire bathroom, and inside the shower for a unique added detail that matched the beautiful travertine medallion we installed in the shower.
The plumbing fixtures and hardware chosen were oil-rubbed bronze to match the dark brown tones in the countertops and custom tile features. Oil-rubbed bronze is a popular trend right now and works with many different interior decor styles from traditional, to Tuscan, to contemporary. The mirrors and lighting we installed to complete the project are also dark brown and perfectly match all of the upscale elements of the room.
