This Scottsdale homeowner was tired of her typical cultured marble track home master bathroom and was ready for a complete upgrade. She never used her large soaking tub, and wanted a larger walk-in shower, so we worked with her on redesigning the space to better suit her needs.
We started the project by tearing out the bathtub and shower. Once those were out, we were able to begin building the larger walk-in shower. We saved her $3,000 and 2 weeks of additional labor time by installing Granitex instead of tile. Installing tile in a shower this large is very time consuming and costly. Even though Granitex is not as fancy, it is less expensive, far easier to maintain, and will last longer than tile.
To match the aesthetic of the bathroom, the homeowner wanted to use glass block for shower privacy instead of a regular glass shower enclosure. The large wall of glass block is a beautiful accent area of the bathroom and will be easy for her to maintain long term.
When we rebuild a shower, we work with the homeowner to figure out where the plumbing should be installed to make the shower easiest to use. In this case, we installed the valve outside of the wet area to make it easy to turn the water on before entering the shower.
We took out the cheap builder-grade cabinetry and countertop, and replaced it with beautiful new white cabinetry, and more drawers for better storage solutions. These new cabinets not only have several convenient drawers, but we also installed an electrical outlet behind them so she can plug-in any small appliances and keep them in the drawer for a clutter-free countertop.
The countertops chosen are granite in a neutral pattern of greys, tans, and blacks. It brings together the grey 12″x24″ plank porcelain floor tile and light grey Granitex shower perfectly. These neutral tones also coordinate with a mirage of different paint colors to update the bathroom walls. This homeowner chose a muted yellow to brighten up the walls and make this bathroom bright and cheerful.
Brushed nickel fixtures were chosen as a neutral, yet sophisticated style that will last for many years to come. An upgraded magnetic docking detachable shower head by Moen was a perfect choice for this homeowner and has become more and more popular recently. This system allows for the convenience of a fixed head and personal shower head, with easy to use magnetic docking for the personal head.
This Scottsdale master bath remodel finished up as a beautiful space and added value to the home. She is thrilled with the end result and will have a beautiful bathroom to enjoy for years to come.
