Fountain Hills Home Remodel – 40

Fountain Hills Home Remodel – 40

These young professional homeowners were anxious to upgrade their 1970’s Fountain Hills home and bring it into this century. As you can imagine, everything was outdated, and this was especially apparent in the kitchen and bathrooms. Their dream was to have a home where they can have friends over to entertain. They hired us because we came highly recommended by their neighbor who had work done by Roadrunner a few years ago. We have 20 years of experience in kitchen and bathroom remodeling in the Valley

We started out by enlarging their living space by tearing out the unusual brick fireplace in the center of the living room and removing the walls surrounding the galley kitchen to combine the kitchen and living room into one large great room. We added skylights in the great room (where the chimney was) and the kitchen to bring in natural light. In addition to opening up this space, the living room had that old 70’s sunken floor. The floor was raised so the entire room was on one level and then we installed beautiful 12×24 tile throughout the space with some carpeted spaces in the living room (where the sunken floor was) and bedrooms.

To triple the size of the small galley kitchen, we combined the kitchen and dining area into one large space which opened it out to the living room. Their kitchen is now a gourmet entertaining area complete with double ovens, seamless quartz countertops, and an oversized island. The homeowners chose specialty soft close doors & drawers and inserts perfect for their knives, small appliances, and to hide their trash and recycle cans.

What really pulled these rooms together was the removal of the ceiling soffits to make a uniform height that spread across the entire great room and master bedroom space. Soffits are common in track homes because it’s a cheap way for builders to run HVAC ducts, however they don’t have an appealing design. Once the ceiling was uniform, we textured and painted to give some personality to the different areas of the new great room and kitchen. The homeowners chose blue backsplash paint in their gourmet kitchen and kept the neutral tan walls of the living room.

The final touch to this project was the custom stained solid core doors we installed throughout. We took these hardwood doors and gave them a dark stain to match the new kitchen cabinets. The finished product has no door casing or base molding to give it a clean southwest look. High end touches like these doors, the beautiful countertops, and custom kitchen cabinetry really elevated this project.

As you can probably tell, we are very proud of the finished results on this project. The homeowners are thrilled to have a home that now reflects their design tastes and desires to entertain. If you’re looking to remodel your kitchen or open up your living spaces into a large great room, please call us to discuss your ideas.
